Professor Dr. Ambigapathy Pandian

Professor Dr. Ambigapathy Pandian was awarded a government scholarship to study for his Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters in Applied Linguistics at Indiana University, Bloomington in America. In 1992 Ambigapathy won the PHP Matshushita scholarship to read his PhD in Univeristi Kebangsaan Malaysia. His field of research interests are wide- ranging- - they include language and literacy education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Sociolinguistics and more recently on higher education. He is very well published, being the author and editor of more than 60 books and many articles featured in such prestigious journals as in Reading as the Journal of Adolescent Reading, Journal of of Communication and Education Australia. He published his first book on “Reading in Malaysia” in 1994 and his recent books include “Practical Guide To Malaysian University English Test” (MUET), published by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Press and “Appropriating English: The business of English Language Teaching” published by Lang Publishers, New York. Currently, he is the Dean, Faculty of Language and communication, University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). He is also, currently, Professorial Fellow at Charles Darwin University, Darwin Australia and Visiting Professor at Ramkhamheng University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr Lusia Marliana Nurani

Dr. Lusia Marliana Nurani has an impressive educational background, including a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Arizona State University in 2015, a Master of Applied Linguistics in English Language from The University of Melbourne, Australia in 2006, and a Bachelor of Arts in French (Linguistics) from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 1999.

She is currently a Full-time Lecturer at Visual Literacy Culture Research Group, Faculty of Arts and Design at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) since 2007, and the Head of Human Resource Development Unit at ITB since 2020. From 2016 to 2020, she was the Deputy Head of ITB Library, and from 2008 to 2009, she was the Academic Manager of ITB Language Center.

In addition to her academic positions, she has held various teaching and editorial positions. She worked as an Education Specialist at The Global Launch in Arizona State University in 2015, teaching English for Academic Purposes for international students who were going to enroll in universities in the United States. She also worked as an Editor Assistant for the International Multilingual Research Journal (IMRJ) and Teachers’ College Publication in collaborative projects between Arizona State University, the University of Maryland at College Park, Taylor and Francis, and Columbia University.

She has experience in academic writing consulting and delivered writing workshops, facilitating graduate writing groups and helping graduate students improve their academic writing and editing skills. She worked as an Academic Writing Consultant and Academic Writing Coach in Arizona State University's Graduate Writing Center and American English and Culture Program (AECP) respectively. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant for graduate-level course, Language and Gender, assisting Dr. Larisa Warhol to prepare and lead weekly discussions in class, posting teaching materials on the Blackboard online system, and leading online discussions.
